Age Group Rank = 57/66
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:00 AM. Ate a single piece of bread w/ peanut butter, cup of yogurt and a granola bar. Got up to transition area, checked tire pressure and that was about it.
Event warmup:

Not too much, actually.
Swim
  • 13m 18s
  • 437 yards
  • 03m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Water is pretty dark and as it was my first OWS triathlon, I didn't do a lot of freestyle swimming. Probably need to do more in the future.
What would you do differently?:

More freestyle swimming
Transition 1
  • 03m 14s
Comments:

Picked up a lot of grass and probably didn't get all of it off prior to socks.
What would you do differently?:

Should have brought a 2nd towel and the bucket I left in the car to sit on during transition. Took a lot of time putting on my riding gloves.
Bike
  • 45m 29s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 16.40 mile/hr
Comments:

Rode my mountain bike with slicks on it. First time riding any significant distance with my riding shoes. Went well overall.
What would you do differently?:

Buy a road bike
Transition 2
  • 02m 6s
Comments:

Transition area was a little crowded so we kind of walked our bikes in. Somebody in my rack aisle put a * chalk mark on the ground so that made it easier to find the actual rack. Very nice! Helped on T1 and T2.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 28m 15s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Only had about 8 miles on my new running shoes and I got a blister on my right foot during the run. Not sure if it was from the new shoes or from grass and stuff left on my foot after T1.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

First OWS, so poor sighting and freestyle swimming...afraid of swimming off course. Mountain bike probably held me back a bit on the ride. Run went well, just need to run more.

Event comments:

Of the 2 tris I've been in this was the best. :)
