Run
Comments: Missed a PR by a couple of seconds... was a little disappointed that I didn't come in under 26:00 (which is always my goal and I've only done just once), but since this was the first 5k of the season, I wasn't sure what to expect anyway. What would you do differently?: My race management skills have got to get a little better (that and doing math in my head while I'm running)... I really thought I was going to come in at about 25:45, but slowed down just a little too much on that third mile. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a bottle of water and chatted for a bit. Then went back out on the course, and ran the last 1/4 mile in with the friend of mine who also did the run. What limited your ability to perform faster: Probably not as much training this winter as I should have... but mostly, I should have gone a little slower the second mile to have a little more left for the third mile. Event comments: Nice goody bag, good course, more than enough volunteers to keep things organized! The only thing I would change is for them to have a more distinct finish line ... they had a couple of construction horses set up to run between, but I had no idea where to really stop running. Bagel and cream cheese 2 hours before the run, and then a gel about 30 minutes before starting. Probably overkill for a 5k, but I don't like feeling hungry while I'm out on the course.
Other than a little stretching, didn't do a whole lot.
