Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:30am for drive over. Very easy drive. Got there too early. Will leave 30mins later next time.Drank 2 doubleshot (Starbucks espresso) and gatorade. Had Clif bar about 6 am.
Event warmup:

Didn't do swim warmup since water was so cold. Next month will be warm and will be able to do proper warmup. Some stretching and waiting around.

Comments:

Dove into water and it just took my breath away. Couldn't keep head in water again due to out of breath. Still got out of water in 8:00 so not bad there, 1:16 run through rough ground to T1.
What would you do differently?:

Go ahead and do warmup even though it was too cold. NExt race it will probably be hot and won't be a problem.

What would you do differently?:

First step out of water was into a deep muck. Had crap all over my feet. Need to bring bucket to this race next time to clean feet. OTherwise went fine.

Bike went as planned. Kept HR around 160 out of water. HR was 163 coming out of water. NExt time know I can push harder here and still have plenty left for run.
What would you do differently?:

I froze my aero bottle and it never thawed. I had no fuids at all until mile 1 of the run! At least it wasn't hot!

Very thirsty at this point and at mile 1, the aid station had this little 2 ounce cup of some kind of rehydration fluid. Normally I probably wouldn't drink at all if had all my fluids on the bike. But this sucked.

I met up with my buddy John during run and we went together. I should have went faster, but he was running at 186 HR and I stayed with him. Last 1/4 mile I started pushing for the end and he followed. I did my normal kick at end and he snuck up behind me and passed me at end! That dog! I should have just finished my the last 2 miles pushing harder :-)
What would you do differently?:

Have a fuel belt bottle ready in T2 if I felt I needed it.

Warm down:

Lots of fluids and walking

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just a training race and no fluids on the bike really hurt. The cold water also ruined my swim.

Event comments:

Not bad race. I will do this again next month.
