Pre-race routine:

Get up ridiculusly early to drive to Alabama. Get there and have breakfast and get ready to ride.

What would you do differently?:

I really didn't need all the stopping I did, but you need to help your buddies because someday you could be having a bad day and need some assistance.

Warm down:

Laid down by a tree and elevated legs.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Could have improved my overall time, but spent a lot of time in rest stops on the return leg waiting for a buddy who is not that strong a climber. Also, lost some time with another friend who broke a spoke around mile 4.

Event comments:

This is billed as the "Toughest Ride in the South" and with good reason. The climbs are brutal! Of course, if you can see through the mist of pain clouding your vision, the views are quite spectacular. Very well supported and quite a feat to have on your resume.
