Sunny
Total Time = 1h 44m 50s
Overall Rank = 226/292
Age Group = 35-40
Age Group Rank = 18/22
Pre-race routine:

check in, set up transition area, get familiar with where things are, relax until warm-up
Event warmup:

10 minutes easy running
Swim
  • 08m 46s
  • 150 yards
  • 05m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Extremely crowded and chaotic. Didn't so much swim as jostle other participants.
What would you do differently?:

Not worry so much about other swimmers and just swim
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Reverse Triathlon. Went from run to bike. Did whole race in swimsuit.
What would you do differently?:

put on shoes standing-up. More hustle to start bike
Bike
  • 1h 08m
  • 16 miles
  • 14.12 mile/hr
Comments:

handeled bike well did everything okay but 1/4 into bike had severe cramping in calves. Really slowed me down on ride and subsequent swim.
What would you do differently?:

Perhaps more training on hills
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Calfs sore from ride took a moment to compose self and stretch calfs before swim.
What would you do differently?:

walked with cap and goggles to pool instead of putting them on at Transition area
Run
  • 28m 54s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Adapting stride to incline paid big dividends. Good pacing. Feelt good and end of run
What would you do differently?:

Seeded closer to front of pack for mass start. Lost seconds by seeding self at back.
I could have ran a little faster.
Post race
Warm down:

walking. Calfs tight.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Calf cramping. Inexperience. Not interested in transition speed as much as simply finishing

Event comments:

Fun little event. Not enough volunteers. Could haev drafted the whole race if I had wanted to. Pool segment felt good but unless you were the first or last one in time had no relation to ability. T times not posted
