Subject: First tri bike...not sure what to get
Ok i have done a few sprint tri's and one Olympic distance and now i'm ready to step up from my road bike to something tri specific. I am strongest in the cycling leg and it has allwase been my sport. I ride a Giant TCR advanced sl currently with SRAM comonents. My mind imedatly tells me to go with a cervelo P2c or P3 but i'm not sure if the P3 is worth the extra cash. Any one have any other bikes that might fit the bill or and opinions on these two? I'm looking to spend 4000 or so max. thanks guys

One that fits....

But that being said.  I have the P2c and LOVE it.  If I had the money the time I bought it would I have gotten the P3?  Probably.  I just love that bike and will probably be the next one I get.

I think a P2 with race wheels will be faster than a stock P3 for about the same budget.

I went with a P2C for my first tri bike (and first bike in 15+yrs---old MTB).  It fit me great and is a pleasure to ride.  Make sure you take into consideration any "add-ons"---since I was getting my first bike I had to add pedals, shoes, etc and the MOST important was the complete fit (they gave a basic fit with the purchase but I got the full fit which they greatly discounted with the purchase).

Try to find a used one so that someone else has already paid some of the depreciation and you can get more bike for your money.  Fit should be your most important goal though.

Do you fit on a Cervelo? Is it comfortable? Before you are deciding on that, go try a bunch of bikes and see which one fits you best.

Thanks guys... and yes i do fit a Cervelo vary well. I have be on both the P2c and P3 over longer rides and both were great. I guess i should try a Felt and a few others on longer rides before i decide. I already have peddles and all the little accessories so as long as the bike fits the 4000 range then I'm set.

I just bought a used 2008 Felt DA w/ race wheels.  Saved a ton of $.  Spent just slightly more than i was going to for a tri bike but got a much nicer model than i would have had i bought new.

xx2.

I bought a P2c last year and LOVE it.  I doubt a P3 will provide much, if any, performance improvement (assuming both fit similarly).  The P3 does have a better paint job though.

Well i think it's going to end up being  a P2c with SRAM RED and a set of ZIPP 404's. I thinks that's the optimal setup for my budget
