Subject: IMCdA Peeps - Question

For those doing IMCdA this year (or last year...):

devo and I are looking to do this race next year.  Can you please give me some information as to what your travel plans are?  Where you are staying; how long; what's it cost; rental car or not, etc.

THANKS!

Spokane is only about 30' away so can fly in there, rent a car. Most hotels are requiring a 5 night stay, taking advantage of the captive audience, in my opinion. I know people who've gone in on  a house together (lots of vacation rentals there), my friend and I reserved a trailer in a the local KOA for about $167 a night (2/1, kitchen, split two ways). He has bailed so I've even found a Motel six locally that still had rooms.

Or you can try the Flamingo Inn, downtown. $99 a night in '03, with a $.50 "Magic Fingers" vibrating bed :-)  That's where I stayed :-)

Yeah. I'm doing what exactly Rich has said.

Flying into Spokane (GEG) and renting a car for the week.

I'm also staying at Motel 6.....don't wanna let those Hotels closer to race site rip me off....the prices are CRAZY....

Rich's trailer deal sounds good.  If I knew someone else racing,  I'll probably do that option too.

If you're renting a car, you DO NOT need to rent a van to carry your bike and bike box. I always rent an intermediate  car. I put the bike in the trunk, box in the backseat with luggage inside it. Of course, this means that you pack your bike in the rental car lot on the way out but no need to rent a van or SUV. I use pipe insulation, from Home Depot, to protect the frame tubes, secured with electrical tape.

Thanks for the info guys. I like the house idea, especially if it's a large crew going like it was for IMAZ.

I slept in a camper with my family at the KOA last year.  Nice place away from town to get in rides and runs before the race!
