Subject: Completed my first biathlon After all that time and effort put into training, I have finally completed my very first biathlon (Singapore Biathlon 1.5km swim follow by 10km run )
This was my first open water swim with so many people around, once the event started everyone seems to be in a frenzy and there was a mad rush to outdo one another and swim ahead.I stayed near the side or edge could not see the swimming path and was just blindly following the swimmers in front and I think I did zig zag abit and not take the most direct route to the halfway turning point.
After completeing the swim I felt really fresh and ready to run the transition was really smooth found my stuff and changed to my running gear quickly.I felt comfortable with the run cause have run the route before during training so know what sort of terrain to expect. I kept at a constant pace throughout the race and pace myself to do a 5.5minute run per km.Maybe I should have pushed myself a little harder cause I feel that I still have stamina left after the race.
The distance for the swim is definitely shorter than 1500m cause I took 25 minutes to complete the swimming and change to running gear I normally take more than half an hour to do so in breaststroke. The 10k run took 55 minutes and I feel that I could have done more or go a bit faster. Finally completed it in 1hr 19mins 9secs. Yeah! I did it.
I feel really great today and hope to do a triathlon in the not too distant future still don,t have a decent road bike. |
