Subject: Road Rash, can't swim, how much can I add to my run?I had my monthly bike crash this morning (only partially kidding! ) and have some decent road rash on my knee, hip, hand and elbow. I feel pretty good and was able to complete my ride (bike is okay other than cosmetic damage to the brifter ). I don't feel comfortable getting in the pool at the gym in my current state and will be missing out on some of my upcoming swim sessions. This is a bummer since I've been improving in the pool but this is a weak area of mine. Main question: Looking at my logs, how much should I add to my biking and especially running knowing that I won't be swimming for a bit? I have really tried to keep my distances in check to avoid injury since I'm starting with almost no base. I have been doing 4 swims, 3 runs, and 3 bikes per week when on schedule. I have a my very first sprint on July 19th. Anyone have experience with this? How long do you think I'll be out of the pool? My hand has fairly deep gashes but not severe enough to require stitches. The rest is significant as well but definitely not ridiculous. Am I right in avoiding the pool with 'open wounds?' |
