With a time trial swim start in races like Louisville, the last participant wont get into the water until at least 7:20am, for example.  So does that make the bike cut-off something like 5:50pm and do they let people finish until 20 after midnight?

Also, wouldn't a TT start make the 2:20 swim cut-off tough to enforce?  In other words, do they let people swim finish until 9:40am instead of the traditional 9:20am?

Or... are you simply at a cut-off disadvantage if you start in the back of the swim pack?

My understanding is that the cutoff clocks start once the last simmer is in the water.  So people starting their swims earlier than this have extra time.

Yup, that's was how it worked last year. So if your concerned about the cutoff times, get to the swim start early and you can get a little extra time.

Personally, I was there early, just due to the fact that I was excited to get the day going and couldn't sleep anyway. It was however a long wait in line for the swim to start, but I had a good chat with a few BT'ers.

Thanks for the responses.  That leads to my second question: do you not start the Lou swim based on race #?  i.e., is the order you get in the water not pre-determined?  Or is it literally first come, first in line?

First come First Serve.

I've thought about getting to transition at 0500 and pump the tires.  Then go back to the hotel and sleep a hour or so then get down to the swim start around 7:15.

I like the idea of sleeping in.  But come race day, I'm guessing I'll have the same issue -- so pumped up and ready to go that I'll be in line fairly early with everyone else.
