Run
Comments: My goal was to run a negative split. My paces close to home have been a lot slower on the 10k distance, but I think that is because of how hilly it is around my house. I was surprised to find my pacing around 7:40 - 8:20 minutes per mile. Instead of a negative split, my pace slowed on the second half of the course. I ran near an 11-year old girl and her dad for most of the second half. That kept me inspired to go the distance. What would you do differently?: I loved passing people at the start of the race. Next time, I will slow the pace and really shoot for a negative spilt. Post race
Warm down: Walked 5 minutes and stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: I actually performed 5 minutes faster than I expected! Event comments: They had a raffle at the end, but never explained how to get raffle tickets, so I missed out. Also they had bagels, but you had to run really fast to get one -- they ran out early. These are nitpicks -- I really enjoyed this race! Last updated: 2009-07-04 12:00 AM

Walking and stretching. First race ever. I didn't realize how long it would take to clip the race number to my shirt. Glad I got there early.
