Subject: question about bricks
So I'm finally starting to feel good about my upcoming tri (in 6 weeks).

I've done the length of each segment before - and plan on doing at least that length in each one, once-twice/week until the tri.

On to bricks:

today I did 550 yard swim and 9 mile bike.  Last weekend I did 5 mile bike and 2.7 mile run.  I felt pretty good for both of them..

My tri is 1100 yard swim, 17.5 mile bike, 3.4 mile run.

Should I be doing 1100 yard swim/18 mile bike (easier for me to do round numbers) and alternate that with 18 mile bike/4 mile run before the tri?  Or should I just focus on doing the distances right now, and not worry too much about the bricks?

does that all make sense? :-p

I have a tri next weekend and Ihave been doing my bricks. My race is a 1/3 mile swim, 13 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. My brick working out consists of a 5 mile bike and a 1 mile run, three times!

5 mile bike- 1 mile run----5 mile bike-1 mile run----5 mile run-1 mile run.

Most other brick workout I know of, and everyone does them differently I think, consist of a long bike and small run (20 mile bike-2 mile run) I do not think there is any set distane for brick workouts, but not sure I would do the whole race distance as my workout.

When you run immediately after riding.......your legs will feel lie a "brick" , hence the name. But you get used to it!!

when I do my bricks I don't do the full distance of the event, but probably 1/2 of it depending. Mainly just to get the body used to the transition from bike to run since once you're past the first 1/2 mile or so you (or at least I) have adjusted. just my nickel...

Thank you for asking about what "bricks" are.,,,   I am brand new to the site/sport and was scratching my head  as to what this term meant...

What I'm not seeing in your logs (but they go back only 2 weeks and maybe the past two weeks are not normal for you?) are individual workouts that are at or above your race distance, such as 20 mile bike rides, or 5 mile runs, or 1200yd swims.  I would be more concerned about getting some of those workouts in.

Bricks can help you gain some confidence about your bike/run transition, and they are a great way to extend a workout or to combine workouts, but in my (inexpert, humble, relatively new) opinion, you really need to get some longer single-discipline workouts in if your logs are indicative of what you've been doing.
