Subject: First TriathlonSo yesterday I was able to finish my first outdoor triathlon ( I did an indoor over the winter, but I dont count that ). So i have been training for an olympic distance later in the summer and the event I did yesterday was only a sprint. While I feel the bike and run went pretty well, other than rubbery legs on the run, the concern I did have was the swim. I have been really upping my distances and while in the pool I can consistantly do the 1 mile olympic and I have been training in Lake Michigan once a week and I have consistanly fnished that mile as well. I am not sure if I came out too fast in the swim or since the lanes were so crowded (outdoor 50m swimming pool ) and I had to sight the whole time, or if it was the water in my googles or the sun in my eyes, but I was way more winded in the swim than I anticipated. I was never able to get into a groove because it was so crowded, but that worried me a little because if I was that hypoxic in a sprint distance how will I do in the olympic? My hopes are that in the olympic people will spread out more once the initial rush is over. I also think I need to tell myself that for now I should be focusing on finishing the events rather than trying to win it. I may have went into the swim yesterday a little too excited to start sprinting. Any suggestions? Thanks! |
