Pre-race routine:

Came home and had a snack. Changed into running clothes and drove over to the race site. Actually, Andy drove and I fell asleep for a little while. ;)
Event warmup:

Ran about a half mile and stretched a little. Chatted with Kristen.

Comments:

I started off at a pretty quick pace. Going into the first cul de sac, I was running less than 11:00 miles, so I slowed down a little bit. The second mile is more hilly, so that also made me a little slower. My lungs hurt a little bit on the hills in the second mile, but not so bad that I couldn't keep going. I tried to take a few really deep breaths and force lots of air out to keep my lungs clear. I stopped at the second water stop and felt like I was really slow after that. I probably shouldn't have stopped there. I was going back and forth with a few other women at the end. One of them outkicked me at the end, but I still passed some of the other people. Andy tried to pass me at the end again (even though I was ahead of him for most of the race), but I held him off.

I really enjoyed this race. I love seeing lots of people I know running and volunteering on the course. So much fun! I will definitely try to do them again next year. I wish I was going to be here for next week, but I'll be on vacation.

Took 2:01 off of my time from last week! Not a PR (my fastest 5k is 34:05) but it's the fastest I've been in awhile.
What would you do differently?:

Start off just a little slower so that I could be faster in the second and third mile.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, got some powerade and pretzels. Chatted with Kristen and Andy, then walked back to the car and went home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still not at 100% with my lungs, not quite sure how to pace these races.
