Run
Comments: Wasn't sure what to expect for this since it was my first stand alone run race since my injury, so I didn't really have high expectations. The overall goal for this race is to win one of the sweet steins that they award for overall and top 3 AG winners. Started off fast and tried to hang on...may have started out a little too quick since I dropped off in pace by about 10 seconds between the first and second mile. I got pretty hot and thirsty by the end of this one even though the weather was good. Had a mega PR...1:15 off my best 5K time, but the Garmin registered only 3.04 miles. The race director later told us that the volunteers mistakenly directed us to turn at the wrong median, so the course was a bit short. So not a true 5K PR. We checked the posted results and saw that I randomly got 1st in my AG...crazy! I guess the super-fasties stayed home this time! I got my super cool stein! The only sad news was that Eric missed 3rd in his AG by 7 seconds...bummer. What would you do differently?: Maybe hydrate more for a race that doesn't start until 10am? Post race
Warm down: Walked around, split a chicken dinner with Eric and got a free beer (yum!) to drink out of the stein. What limited your ability to perform faster: Early season injury. Event comments: Love this race! Last updated: 2009-07-01 12:00 AM
