i would thinking biking.

I can bike 2 hours and feel great after.

+2. I'm surprised cycling didn't get more votes. IMO, all endurance activities are close enough together in cals burned/hr that the most important aspect for weight loss would be which activity could be done comfortably and enjoyably the most hours per week.

If you consider doing just one of S/B/R regularly, IMO, almost anyone could ramp up easily to 10 hours/week of cycling. Weight would fall off regularly and most people would eventually have to try to eat to keep weight on. For me personally, cycling is so enjoyable it doesn't even seem much like work.

IMO, it's much harder to put in those kind of hours either by running or swimming.

great advice.

I really like swimming but get bored after 50 min or so.  Love to run,,  but my ankles don't the next morning

being able to do something constistantly is the key...
10 hrs biking at apx 400 calories an  hour vs 5 hrs running at 600 cal/hour  = 4000 vs 3000
over a couple of months that 1000 calorie difference will add up  to lots of weight loss

(setting the timer for the "i can run 10 hrs a week post)

One finding that weight training combined with endurance exercise burns fat better than just endurance training.

Interesting study. Would love to read the whole paper and all the conditions, types of resistance weights, level they were biking, food intake, etc... It also would have been interesting if they had added in two groups as well, the control group that did nothing and a group that only did resistance exercise for those 30 minutes. It is true that resistance exercise combined with Aerobic is better than either alone but there still is no proof that lifting weights increases the metabolism for the x hours after a workout (or that Aerobic exercise does even) I think it comes down to variability of the exercise, combining weights with aerobics.
