I'm not able to make it to the RAT century that I wanted to do so I figure why not still try to get in a 50 miler on Sunday.

I'll be at the Metro Beach on Sunday 7-19 and was told I could ride from that area.  I'm thinking a simple out and back, but being that I've never been there, does anyone want to meet up in the afternoon and go for 50?  I'd also be up for any route suggestions.  I know there is a paved bikeway, but do people expect a cyclist to be 'touring' or is the path wide enough for me to cruise at 20+?

If the path isn't wide enough or appropriate to ride fast, how are the roadways?

So, any route or basic suggestions?  I'm open, and if you want to ride along, I'm up for company.

Depending on time of day and weather conditions, the paved walkway may be quite crowded with people who think they own the road and will be hesitant at best to get out of your way.  The roads/drivers in the area are NOT conducive to cycling either (though the route up and down Jefferson is winding and scenic along the lake). You are much safer on the path.  I have tried a couple of times to ride on that pathway and have found that the farther you get from the beach the easier it is to go faster, but I still am not a big fan.

Thanks for  the heads up.  I guess there will be no ride for me today.
