Subject: Beginner
Hello.
My name is Chris and I live in LA.
I am 24 years old and I want to start a training program for a Triathlon.
First of all: maybe you guys could give me some advice how to start.
I surf on a daily basis since I was 10 years old, so I am in very good shape.
Second: Is there anybody out there (LA area) who would like to start together?
Third: What kind of equipment do I need? Shoes, bike etc.
Thanks so much for your help.
Cheers,
Chris

You can check out the trainig plans on this site to get a feel for training all three disciplines.

Use any bike you have or can borrow. Nothing fancy is needed to begin training.  A road bike, hybrid or mountain bike will do. Just get out and ride.

If you dont already have them, get some decent running shoes.

good luck

Hey Chris,

1. To start: grab one of the free sprint plans here on BT and start logging your workouts.

2. I'm sure you already have, but check out http://www.latriclub.com/

3. Decent pair of running shoes, any bike you can beg/borrow/steal (mtn bike will work for your first sprints if that's all you got), and a pair of goggles.

Don't be intimidated by the NON-beginners you'll find here, keep asking questions.  Lots of great knowledge and support here.

Welcome to BT!
