From the 9 News website.

"AURORA - The Aurora Reservoir swim beach has been closed after test indicated higher than normal bacterial levels in the water.

The Parks and Open Space Department made the announcement Thursday morning. They say it is not unusual for bacteria levels to fluctuate since the reservoir is an untreated natural body of water.

When the levels drop the swim beach will reopen."

huh. I'm supposed to volunteer for the My Way or the Tri Way this weekend. Guess I'll have to check to make sure that's still on.

I did the Dip and Dash on Tuesday, so I will let you all know if I start growing a 3rd eye.

I also did the Dip & Dash this past Tuesday and have not yet grown any extra eyes or limbs, so we'll see.  I'm also scheduled to race My Way or the Tri Way (swim-run-swim, no less!) so I'm hoping it's cleared up asap!

I was at the D&D also and have no evidence of anything unusual going on...other than chaffing on my neck necause I forgot to bodyglide!.  I did notice during the swim a heavy exhaust or fuel smell from one of the patrol boats...every single lap as I swam towards the beach.  It was really bad I thought but being that I was pretty much dead last coming out of the water there wasn't really anyone to ask if they noticed the same thing.  Any of you notice it?  I mentioned it to the RD and she said she had no complaints.

I did notice the exhaust smell from the patrol boat the other day and have noticed it before at other D&Ds.  Not sure there's anything they can do about it though.  It's unpleasant but hasn't affected my swim any, so I haven't mentioned it.

Temps are probably approaching 70 degrees right now.  I think most normal people swim May-September but there may be some people who go longer.

The Aurora res doesn't get much warmer than low 70s, but some of the others in the area do I think.  I'd say it's a pretty even mix of full suits and sleeveless - if anything, I think I see more full suits.  A full suit would definitely be a good idea if you want to swim in May and September.

FYI - it seems the swim beach has been reopened today (per the Denver Post).
