Total Time = 1h 29m 42s
Overall Rank = 93/141
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 6/8
Pre-race routine:

Got to the race at 6a. Set up my transition area then went and got breakfast. Ate waaaaaay too much.
Event warmup:

Some stretching. Swam a bit then some more streching
Swim
  • 09m 28s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 09s / 100 yards
Comments:

Time wasn't so good. No wetsuit but I didn't think it would make that much of a difference. Stayed right on course the whole time with one minor slip up. Maybe not enough OWS with no wetsuit.
What would you do differently?:

More OWS.
Transition 1
  • 02m 5s
Comments:

Pretty tired after the swim.
What would you do differently?:

My shoes aren't really easy to get in. Maybe some new ones at some point.
Bike
  • 43m 38s
  • 11.7 miles
  • 16.09 mile/hr
Comments:

A personal best, so I'm not gonna bitch. My chain came off about halfway through the race costing me a minute or two. Due to the hills it was tough to get into a good rhythm. Oh yeah and my cadence meter didn't work so I had to wing it.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 57s
Comments:

About the same
What would you do differently?:

I saw someone with elastic instead of laces in their shoes. Maybe I can rig something up.
Run
  • 32m 35s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

My calf cramped up at the end of the bike and carried over to the run. I had to walk for about 1/4 mile before I could get running. I finished strong though.
What would you do differently?:

Drink some more water maybe have some electrolytes to avoid the leg cramps.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank a lot of water. No food

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I ate way to much for breakfast. I felt like I had a rock in my stomach halfway through the bike. I didn't take in enough water on the bike and started to cramp up at the end of the bike. Better attention to nutrition should help this.

Plus more training. :)

Event comments:

I wish we would have started a lot earlier. It was light out at 6a and the olympic didn't start until 7:30. There was a 2 hour break until we started at 9:30. We could have been wrapped up and finished by then if we would have stated at 7:30. Other than that a lot of fun.

Really nice people there.
