Total Time = 1h 26m 26s
Overall Rank = 486/1120
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 34/63
Pre-race routine:

Nothing special, no breakfast 1 cup of coffee, prior to arrival at transition. Took 1 energy gel just prior to entry to swim start.
Event warmup:

Light stretching
Swim
  • 12m 5s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 25s / 100 meters
Comments:

I was happy I passed quite a few people on my swim. I did freestyle the whole time. I did not like swiming up on people as his would slow me down until I could pick a route around them. This was a wetsuit legal race however I did not own one at the time of the race. I improved on my time from last year.
What would you do differently?:

Try to sight other swimers to pick a better route throught the pack.
Transition 1
  • 03m 19s
Comments:

I put my shoes on in Transition and hobbled with bike. I thought I did well but my time tells me diffrent.
What would you do differently?:

More practice getting into shoes is needed, and practice mounting bike is needed.I always wear socks for biking I may reasses my needs over the next few weeks to determine if this can be skipped to save time.
Bike
  • 38m 2s
  • 11.5 miles
  • 18.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Soon as I turned onto Hughes drive I hit a pothole, while trying to get around another rider, this launched my water bottle off the road. Not sure where it landed I paused to look for it and didn't see it.
What would you do differently?:

More time on the bike will result in a better bike segment.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

This went very well no problems, my transition spot was in the grass so running in bike shoes was not bad.
Run
  • 32m 2s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

Due to leg injury could not run as much as I wanted but overall was good.
Post race
Warm down:

Water and walk to cool down, I got a masssage after the race, this is something I recommend, there may be a wait but it was worth it.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

On Saturday, I injured my left leg slipping on a wet floor, this made it difficult to raise my leg up. During the swim and the bike the injury was not noticable however on the run it was quite painful and resulted in my walking more than running.

Event comments:

I wanted to improve over my times from last year and I did. With more training and the Tri bike I shaved 18 min off my time. If I can fix my T1 time I'll shave a few more off next year.

The volunteers and staff were great, I look forward to doing this race again next year.
