Subject: Tri Bike vs Road Bike

I am just starting to get back into training after a 3 year hiatus.  Ok, so this question is the start.Laughing

What is the difference between tri bikes and road bikes?  Mainly, if I get a tri bike will I wish I had a road bike?  I ask because I am going to buy a bike (budget = $1500) and would like to be able to happily use it for the next 3-5 years.  

 

I am sure this has been asked numerous times but I went through the first 4 pages of this forum and didn't find anything.  Thanks in advance for all your help.

whichever ever bike you will get, you will still find a reason to want the other one..

I'm sure many people will say it depends on your riding...

-training alone, only doing tri's
 vs
- participating in  group rides, &/or crits, commuting,

which ever one you choose just make sure the bike fits, shop around

I vowed I would not be one of those guys with multiple bikes when I got my first bike,, I now have a road/tri/mtn bike and would love a fixie
