Morden 6 and 6 - Biathlon (swim/run)

Swim
Comments: Steady swim, sacrificing speed to maintain bilateral breathing. Felt comfortable. (Think swim time includes T1, a bit disappointing otherwise.) What would you do differently?: Could possibly have gone a little faster but wanted to stick with bilateral breathing. Transition 1
Comments: Relatively slow - aimed to be steady rather than rush. No problems getting shirt with number on (shirt necessary to qualify for club championship), shoes and socks took a little longer. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Took first lap at reasonably steady pace to get to know course. Maintained pace for second lap, tried to pick up pace a little on third lap and struggled to hold faster pace for final lap. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Pleased with pace - only 2 seconds per mile slower than stand-alone 10K PB set on flatter course (which suggests room for improvement on 10k time). Hill training will be useful for future. Post race
Warm down: Chatted with club members, finished rest of Gatorade and had banana. Changed back into bike clothes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited swim training and limited speed work, as to be expected given this season's emphasis on Ironman. Pleased to be 10th woman out of 35. (Also delighted to see only 22 seconds behind fastest woman from my club, so will score 99% in club championship.) Event comments: Very friendly local race. Excellent first race of the season. Very happy with time and position, especially given GI problems throughout day before. Last updated: 2005-04-20 12:00 AM

Cycled down to race. Drank some full strength Gatorade on way there.
Drank half bottle of Gatorade, changed into race suit and set up transition. Didn't arrive early enough to walk round run course.
