Shoulda bought a road bike...

So I bought a bike three weeks ago, a performance hybrid, the Trek 7.2. I know, I know. I went into the bike shop with a pricepoint (under $1000, and the fact that this is my second tri and I do not really now what to look for). They steered me towards the hybrid.  It is three weeks old. Unfortunately, I am just not getting the speed I want and after talking to some BT'ers, have a feeling I should have bought an entry level road bike, like the Trek 2.1. I am racing in an Olympic distance tri and have a feeling my bike ride is going to be 2 hours, lol. Any advice for getting rid of my new bike fast and making a new purchase on the road bike? Do bike shops exchange 3 week old bikes? Or do you know a good website to try to sell it on?
