Subject: Mid August Meltdown Lak e Sara
Anyone out there doing the Mid Aug Meltdown in Effingham Aug 16?  I just signed up for the Olympic Dist race.  Looking at previous years...it seems like a really small race...i think there were only about 30 racers in the Olympic last year and maybe 50 in the sprint.  Anyone have any experience with this race???

Good name. The lake was 83 degrees in June....

That course got really fricking out in June for the half. My shoes had melted tar all over them.

It was indeed quite warm out there particularly for the run.  Water temp was 84 degrees.  I'd bet the heat index was well into the 90s during the 6 mile run.  Despite that I finished in 2:39 which isn't bad for my first Oly and only second tri ever.  It was a small race, only about 34 in Oly.  It was kind of a low rent production but somewhat laid back.  Everyone was really nice.  Transition area not well guarded.  Someone could have easily walked out with your bike if they were so inclined.
