Run
Comments: I was disappointed in my time and how I ran. I was dehydrated at the start and never felt good. I felt slight nausea coming on after a few miles and I drank a ton and felt a little better. I probably walked a total of 8-10 minutes. My upper hamstrings were both very sore (bike seat issue), and lack of sleep (and lack of running due to tendinitis) hurt me. I still managed to average better than 9 minutes a mile. 354th place out 994; 16th in age group. #2132. I think I should have been at least 13 minutes faster with better hydration. I had a big meal the night before with 3 beers and no water. No water before the race eiter (pretty stupid) What would you do differently?: Stay hydrated before the race. Only easy workouts for the 2-3 days before the race. Get more sleep. I had 3 weeks of 5-6 hours sleep a night due to work. Eat a light meal the night before. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Hamstring pain and dehydration. I drank over half a gallon of water during the race, but I started in the hole. Last updated: 2009-04-26 12:00 AM
