Subject: Fizik Arione Problems.....
So I bought a new bike...it's larger than my old one, thus longer, thus more of a lean, but at 6'-3" my 60 cm bike is supposed to be my size.  I don't feel like I'm leaning over too much, I have a good amount of bend in my elbows and all that.......

The bike came with a fizik arione saddle.  It's very uncomfortable for me.  I have tried another saddle, profile designs as well.  Anyone have problems with the arione??? What did you get instead that worked for you?  I am about to start the iteration of tons of expensive bike saddles and want at least some direction to go in!!!

Thanks!

I'm 6'3" and the Fizik's work great for me on Road bikes and not at all on Tri bikes. I run a plain on Terry Tri Fly on my Tri bike and it works really well.

I have found on road bikes I like a saddle that slops downwards in the seating area like the Fizik's, I have not done that much testing with Tri saddles as the Terry works well enough I'm not messing with it.

I had problems with the Arione, but really liked the Aliante. I have since left the Fizik camp all together and now have Prologo Scratch on both my road bikes and a Profile Design on my tri/TT bike.

The Scratch is expensive, but oh so comfortable!

Just before you go ahead and toss that Arione, make sure that you have a good bike fit (the best investment you can do in your bike training is a good fitting). Lots of time, saddle problems are actually fit problems.

I love  the fi'zi:k Arione Tri2 that came on my P2, it's the most comfortable nosed saddle I've ever ridden. I planned to move my Adamo from my old tri bike but am leaving it where it is in favor of the Arione.

The saddle may not be the issue. If you are short torso'ed or short armed, the bike may be too big for you and that is what is causing your discomfort.

I am 6'3" with a really short torso, I had the same problem on my 60cm and went a size smaller (58cm) to get that perfect fit. On the 60cm, I was in pain on anything over 20 miles. On the 58cm, I can ride 75 and feel great.

The length of seat post showing may look a bit funny, but the fit is what matters.

Oh man....see this is what I'm worried about.  I love the bike and got a great deal on it because all the guys at the bike shops I went to said definitely 60 cm, without a doubt.

How long is your torso and how do you take the measurement?

I just don't want to get fit on a bike that is just too long for me in the first place.  Sounds like a huge waste of money.

Saddles are personal and it can take time to find one you like.  If you try out a few though and none of them are working you may want to revisit your fit on the bike.  I love the Arione myself.

I'm just over 6'3", ride a 61cm bike, and started with a profile design saddle, hated it, got an Adamo Road and love it.  I'd also look at a John Cobb saddle, if it doesn't work you can return it, use it up to 6 months, so that may be worth at least a try. If you decide to get an Adamo, check out bikeisland.com, I got mine from there for around $80.
