Subject: Lake Geneva swimming
I am training for the Chicago Tri and live near Lake Geneva. Anyone know a good place to do open water swimming? This is my first tri and I need to practice in my wetsuit but also wanted to have an idea of how far I am swimming. Anyone have any ideas?

THANKS!!!

Lake Geneva has strict rules about swimming outside of the beach swim areas without a boat along side you because of the heavy boat traffic. I'm doing the LG HIM and was told NOT to swim without one.  Have you thought about the Pleasant Prairie area?  Check out the Pleasant Prairie triathlon website.  I think the lake is called Andrea and is supposed to be pretty nice for swimming.

I live in Lake Geneva - early morning swims at Big Foot Beach are great - calm water, a few boats and you can measure distance off of Rte 120 that runs alongside the beach. Anytime between 6a-9a is usually good. In front of the Riviera and Library downtown in the morning is also a great place to swim. Good luck!!

Where is BigFoot Park in relationship to Reid Park?

I think Reid Park is in Fontana - Big Foot Beach State Park is straight east across the Lake. Fontana and Williams Bay have early morning beach swim spots also.
