Hello

29 days after my first lesson, a lot of practice and reading TI Swimming I finally had my swimming breakthrough and none to early.

Tonight my goal was to swim my longest distance ever 200 meters FS.  My longest to date had been 125m struggle.

So after a lot of practice and tips tonight I keep on swimming right past 200 meters to 600 meters all FS.  Not fast and I did have form breakdowns and I had to breathe on almost all my right strokes but I keep going.  I did manage a few breathes on the lest side and near the end of the swim I was breathing every other stroke of the left arm.

So since my first race is Sunday my new goal for the swim is to swim it all FS.  No backstroke.

I have two swimming sessions left before I race Sunday so that will all be stroke work.

So yes anyone can learn to swim.  29 days, 3 lessons and practice does work.  It sure is nice to have a neighborhood pool two blocks from the house.

Kevin

Congratulations!!  I know where you are coming from, 3 months ago I was gassed doing one length in the pool, but TI and persistance pays off, my workouts have started to include 500m repeats only 3 months in. My 1st tri will be on 9/13.  I will be looking forward to see how you did.

you went from a 125 long swim to 600?! Awesome! Obviously something 'clicked' there.

I wouldn't sweat having to breathe every right stroke - I've been swimming competitively for... a long time, that's usually what I do, and that's what's fastest [for me at least]. Point is it isn't necessarily bad form.

Great Job on your swim!!

I agree.  I am not sure it is considered "wrong" to breath every sroke.  If breathing every stroke gets you to your bike and not out of breath, then do it.
