Any suggestions? I actually like the table format. If you want to reduce the amount of data displayed, you could export everything into Excel from Daily Plate, remove the extra columns, and then paste the data from Excel here. I think it was just too big (font size and spacing). I'll try exporting into Excel today and making it smaller before I paste it here. |

Me either! 1,000 isn't very much at all!! Knowing I was going to post my food today did make me pick a much healthier option for lunch. |

Sometimes I forget to eat, then of course make it up after dinner! Monday was a strange day so my food choices are a little embarrassing, but anyway: Breakfast: homemade minestrone soup Lunch: bacon Dinner: ravioli and four cheese sauce Popcorn (mini bag with theater butter!) Today was better: Breakfast: homemade minestrone soup Lunch: energy bar Dinner: chef salad Popcorn Lots of room for improvement! This check-in will keep me motivated. Good luck to everyone. Mary |

New user 476 | Subject: RE: Nutrition Thread - Week of 8/17 to 8/23 I would highly suggest that along with how many calories you consumed you need to add your weight and your activity for the day. 1000 calories to mean would put me in the hospital at 270 pounds. For a lady that's 5' tall and 100 pounds, that could be more then enough. Looking blindly at what one has eaten with out those stats... |

I need to plan better... haha, my husband isn't so crazy about it, because it means I'm sometimes up at 6:30AM cooking fish or a turkey burger, but I find planning everything the night before and then bringing it all is the simplest way to take control of my nutrition. Plus, I got tired of spending 8 dollars on a lame salad at work every day. |

Ok, here comes my disclaimer ) There are two reasons why my daily calories this week are within 1200 range: 1. I hardly have any time for training this week: after a 6-month-long hiatus I'm back to working on my MBA and I'm closing a project at work 2. I am getting ready for my vacation next week. I do not eat like this when I train Plus, today I did not plan well, so the morning post was not complete. I'll go update "my daily plate" and re-post. |

I'm 5'1" (you were close), I weigh 135, and I'm trying to go down to 125, which is the ideal weight for my body frame (or so I think). And I have light to none training activity planned this week. You eat a lot of junk food don't you? To my count at 585 calories of candy and pop. I would suggest trying to replace some that with good fruits and vegetables. That's letting you slide on the cream and powerade. Out of 1529 calories taken of 1/3 of calories are coming from them. Just imagine how much better you would feel if you could replace those with better options. I'm not saying to deprive yourself of those treats, just limit them. Edited by JC5066 2009-08-19 6:23 AM |

Subject: RE: Nutrition Thread - Week of 8/17 to 8/23 JC5066 - this thread wasn't really started with the intention of having people calling others out on what they are (or aren't) eating. Also, I notice you aren't posting what you ate this week. Are you just here to critique everyone or do you plan to participate? Margarita - I'm five feet tall, so I'd be eating about 1200 per day too if I wasn't doing much activity. Good luck with the MBA! Edited by DMW 2009-08-19 9:07 AM |

I'm not saying to deprive yourself of those treats, just limit them. I do! It's one of the things I am bad at. Honestly, that's much better for me than I have been and some of the candy was during a movie last night. I brought my own rather than getting popcorn or a big bag there. I should be better about bringing my own food and veggies to work. I have to go grocery shopping and remember to pack the night before. Anyone have good suggestions for easy snacks? I can't eat almonds (allergic), but pretty much everything else is fair game. |

Margarita - I'm five feet tall, so I'd be eating about 1200 per day too if I wasn't doing much activity. Good luck with the MBA! For the record, I'm ok on being called out on what I eat. I feel like that's an important part of me learning to make better choices. I can understand if other people don't feel the same way, but know that I am up for whatever criticism you want to give me. |

Subject: RE: Nutrition Thread - Week of 8/17 to 8/23 Artemis - that's cool then. I'm glad you don't mind. I was just worrying that people will be intimidated posting what they eat if they think random people are going to come in and tell them they're wrong. I'm suppose I'm oversensitive about it though, because I have gotten random inspires over the years from people telling me I don't eat enough, when they don't have any idea that I'm very short. And for the record - I posted that my goals are to cut out added sugar (except for training purposes), and all artificial sweeteners, so I totally expect people to call me out if I log a diet coke! I can't eat almonds (allergic), but pretty much everything else is fair game. Hi Artemis, I'm a carboaddict with some major sugar craving, so snacking is an issue here as well.. Are you allergic to all nuts? Or just almonds? Pecans are really good for you as a snack, as well as walnuts, but walnuts are higher in fat. Do you like cheese? I love cheese. I must have been a mouse in my previous life. Low fat string cheese is an exellent snack. Do you like dark chocolate? Even a little bit of good-quality dark chocolate takes care of cravings and you are better off than eating twizzlers. My rule of thumb is that you have to stay within 130 calories for your snacks. 100 would be even better. Other things to consider: bananas, non-sugary cereal (once again, pre-measure a 100-calorie serving as a snack), oranges (sweet, but still good for you), Kavli crispbread (http://www.kavli.com/wps/wcm/connect/com/Products/Kavli+Crispbread/) I'll post more as they come to mind..
