Saturday, got my first try with the Akona Quantum Stretch suit, and getting used to the extra effort of swimming with a wetsuit on. I thought this was supposed to make things easier?

Anyways, about 800 yards in the new suit, and met the folks from Dreamfar Tri Team. Nice group. Also, I ran for longer than I ever have (about 6 minutes consecutive), so all in all a banner day.

Doesn't Akona make scuba diving equipment? Maybe you are trying to swim in a diving wetsuit? I have some gloves that Akona made...but they're several years old, so maybe they've branched into swimming wetsuits.....but you shouldn't feel like it requires extra effort to swim in a wetsuit.

Congrats on your run!

Being a bigger dude, (5x in wetsuits) its been near impossible to find a "swimming wetsuit" that works. The first one I tried, Akona's 5/3 (with neoprene measurements like a typical wetsuit) was so bouyant that I couldnt swim breaststroke in it very well. The Quantum Stretch I wore (a 3mm suit) yesterday was less bouyant, but made me feel weighed down as I tired. It may just be me adapting to the suits, and needing to understand changes I need to make to how I swim in one.

The only reason I'm even looking at them, is that living out here, spring and fall races all require them, and for many of the ocean races theyre recommended.
