Does anyone swim with a full mask?  The ones that cover the nose too?

I have bad sinuses, and the more I've been swimming the worse they are getting.  I also HATE having water in my sinuses as well.  I've tried nose plugs but they still let water in.

Any suggestions?

Try to exhale through both your mouth and nose as soon as your face hits the water.  That should keep water from getting into your sinuses.  Or try using a different type of nose plug.  When I roll my kayak, the plugs I use are adjustablem so I cna make them tighter or looser as needed.

X2 on the exhale timing.  Also, for me, somehow, flip-turns made the problem worse.  Try open-turns in training and see if the situation is better.  After dropping the flip-turns, this problem eventually went away for me, on its own.  I am not sure as to what changed but the second year I swam, I had no more problem with water in my sinuses.  Good luck.

I have this problem too, I have really sensitive sinuses.  I breath OK under water, but when I turn me head to breath, I have water drip in my nose and then I feel like Im going to puke.  Nose clips were OK, but uncomfortable.

So I tried a speedo raven mask.  Its a free dive mask that has a nose skirt.  I find it to be much more comfortable than nose clips or nose plugs.  BTW, I can still exhale through my nose with the mask on and it doesnt fog (so long as I spit in it first).  I wrote a review on this site a couple months ago about it and have posted on a couple of other threads too.  If you search 'Raven mask' they should come up.  Let me know if the dont and I'll give you more info.  I got it on Amazon since the dive shop I go to didnt carry the smaller free dive masks, only scuba.

I other thing, I went back to my speedos to try it out, and I have found that I like the single mask for visibility than the individual eye pieces.

Thanks for the info.

I just picked something similar to this at the store.  I'm going to try it out tomorrow.

I've got to do something.  I wake up every morning with a runny nose and sneezing.  It's definitely worse the day after I swam.  I also get after I've been swimming too.  I never had issues like this before I started swimming on a regular basis.
