Anyone doing this one?  I'm on the fence.  Is it sold out yet?   Would like to do one more for the season, and this looks to be the closest one.  If not, any other suggestions?

My wife and I are gonna do the Du together. I've done the tri twice before. That pool swim is hectic, but I liked the bike and run. Signing up is on the to-do list for today.

Either this one or the one in Danville.  Don't know as of yet.

I have done this one a few times and it is a great race once you get out of the pool! It is crazy packed in the pool and just not a lot of fun, but the bike and run are great.

I think I am going to skip it this year and do the Morehead Eagle Tri at Cave Run Lake... don't get too many open water swim opportunities around here so I am going to take it.

Good luck

The pool swim part of it is why I'm on the fence.    I've only done 3...all OWS.

I did the Tom Sawyer and Tri Indy and am done Tri racing for year.  My training now is focused on the Louisville Half Marathon in about 6 weeks, and staying in shape for Old KY home bike tour and Hilly Hundred tour this fall.

The Tom Sawyer was a pool/snake swim and I found it much easier than the psuedo OWS at Tri Indy.  I'm a slow swimmer and seeded myself accordingly, leading to my only complaint - the amount of time I had to wait to start.

Since its an 800 swim, there is 2 way traffic in each lane and you snake. So down, back, under is the progession obviously. You start about every 3-5 seconds. If everyone seeded themselves accordingly, it would be a breeze, but thats not the case. Its a fun race and I would definitely do it this year, but I haven't been in a pool in 3 months.

I watched this race last year.  A pool swim is always a bummer imo.  The run from the pool to the bike area has to make this one of the longest T1's around.

But, based on what I saw and everyone I spoke with, the race is a lot of fun and VERY well organized.

I should probably do one in a pool just for the experience, but I really prefer the open water swims too wiky.  Good luck to you in the IM by the way.
