Comments: It took me about 200 yards to get my rhythm going, and then the last 400 was good. Could only breath on my left because when I breathed on my right it hurt. Don't know what is going on there. (Even now I get a sharp pain in my right side with a deep breath.) Swam freestyle almost the whole race. 2 yrs ago time was 13:57. Knocked almost 2 minutes off the time here. What would you do differently?: Work on getting into a rhythm quicker. I was only 20 seconds out of first place for the age group. Transition 1
Comments: 3:40 was transition 2 yrs ago. Big improvement here. :) What would you do differently?: Run faster, and not worry about knocking the grass off of the feet. Just deal with it!!! Bike
Comments: Everything was going well until mile 8 when my left calf cramped. Managed to work through it. Then around mile 10 almost had an accident. Stupid bike swerved out in front of me and missed my front tire by about two inches. I had to break hard and then both calves cramped. OMG they hurt. I pushed through. 2 yrs ago time was 46:51 - so big improvement, 4 minutes taken off. What would you do differently?: Less than 3 minutes out of first place for this leg, so I need to push harder. Transition 2
Comments: 2 yrs ago it was 3:21 for this transition. I think I did awesome! I decided to forgo the socks for the run. Just pulled off the bike shoes, on with the running shoes, off with the helmet and gloves and away I went. What would you do differently?: Might conside going with out riding gloves on the spring races. More than likely not on the bike long enough to really make a difference. Run
Comments: Running is still a problem for me. I did try to run about 4 different times, but doubt that I even made it a 1/4 of a mile each time. 2 yrs ago 43:24, took off 2 minutes of time. What would you do differently?: It is mostly mental because I am not a good runner. I need to figure out how to get a breathing rhythm for when I run. I did knock a minute off of my time for a mile. :) Need to knock another 3 minutes off of that. Post race
Warm down: Water. Cheese Pizza. Iced tea! Banana! Hubby! Haappy! What limited your ability to perform faster: ME! Mental! Run breathing. Event comments: Knocked 10 minutes off of my overall time from 2 years ago. If I take off another 10 minutes I could have been in second place for my age group. I have a goal! Got up at 4am. Alarm was set for 4:30, but obviously I couldn't sleep. Got the bike on the car, dressed and made a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast. Frank drove us the hour and 15 minutes to the race. Packet pickup was a breeze and I had everything ready an hour before the race was to start. Yahoo!
Walking around and stretching.
