Glad to see you guys are doing the swim. I'd love to but live in Newnan and its about 3 hrs away..lol
Im in for the Tri, my second year. Last year the swim seemed a little long, maybe 1/3 mi, not 1/4 other then that, great race and looking forward to it the weekend before Augusta 70.3!!

Hello

My brother lives in Gainesville, FL and I live in Mt Pleasant (Charleston), SC so we will see the course on race day!

I am also signed up for the St Simons Island Sprint in October.  This is my first triathlon season and I am trying to get in 3 races.

This is going to be my first TRI and I am very nervous about the swim. I wish I could get over this and concentrate about the WHOLE race.

Hello

How far down each AG do they give medals?

I will be in trouble racing Clydesdale as I am the only one above 40.  Maybe I can make up time on my bike.  I know I will be giving away a lot of time on the swim & run!

Anybody know what the water temp is?

Do they have post race food?

Team Sport Bean??? Nice

I like the watermelon & orange flavors.  I do keep them in bag for after the race. Not sure I really need them in a Sprint-Tri.  I do eat them during the long bike rides.

I bet that you will do awesome at this tri! Focus on the swim piece by piece. First reach the first buoy, then focus on reaching the next buoy, then focus your energy on getting back to shore! If you take it piece by piece, it might help it not to be so overwhelming.

I don't know about the awards, but I can say a bit about the course. I went out last weekend and did the brick workout that they were sponsoring.  Unless the weather takes a major turn, the water should stay pretty warm. Compared to the Middle GA Lakes I have been practicing in, Vidalia was a bit cooler but nothing major.

I am hoping/assuming that there will be post race food. The actual race site is in a developing subdivision that has 2-4 homes in it and the surrounding areas are pretty bare. Bike course is on a lonely country road with little traffic. Parking at the site will be interesting depending on how many cars are out there.

Also just FYI for those that haven't done this race or seen the site before, transition is on grass.

Hello

This will be my second race and transition on grass was fine in the first race.

Just bring a big towel to lay your bike & run gear out on.  Then stand on the towel when you change.

Practice your transitions and then when you get out of the water try to run to your bike.  I walked in my first race and ti cost me at least 1 minute.

I am ready  for a road trip to GA for a race.

No rain would be good!

I was floored at the race numbers this year!

We have a large group from the middle GA Area. Most of us are heading down on Friday evening after a group dinner.
