Age Group Rank = 105/113
Pre-race routine:

Woke up had tea, and oatmeal for breakfast, got about half a clif bar in before race start
Event warmup:

just swam around a bit while waiting for my wave
Swim
  • 37m 13s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Actually felt great swimming, I caught up to the wave ahead of mine, which made me feel faster than my actual time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, just need to keep working at swimming, it has become my best event
Transition 1
  • 03m 23s
Comments:

Pretty good transition for me
What would you do differently?:

Still need to work on things like jumping on my bike and having my shoes already clipped in, definitely room for improvemnet
Bike
  • 3h 12m 7s
  • 56 miles
  • 17.49 mile/hr
Comments:

I hit a wall around mile 40, all my energy was just zapped and the last 16 miles were torture
What would you do differently?:

Train. I did very little training for this race
Transition 2
  • 08m 7s
Comments:

I was cramping really bad so I took my time in T2 to stretch and use the Porto-potty
What would you do differently?:

Train
Run
  • 3h 08m 37s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 14m 24s  min/mile
Comments:

Stretching in T2 did not help, both legs had terrible cramping the whole first loop and I felt like I had blisters on both feet. Second loop was a little better but in the final 4 miles I stated getting sharp pains in my Achilles tendon when I would try and run.
What would you do differently?:

Train, notice a recurring theme :) this is where the lack of training really made itself known
Post race
Warm down:

Sat in the shade with some cold water and grabbed some food. Unfortunately they ran out of burgers at the food tent and I was left with several types of pasta salad, and Caesar salad, which didn't quite cut it but oh well.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just didn't put the effort into my training, lost focus got burned out. Next year is a new year and I'm looking forward to a better one
