Total Time = 1h 21m 11s
Overall Rank = 76/255
Age Group = M 35-59
Age Group Rank = 11/27
Pre-race routine:

First Triathlon spent the morning getting everything packed and loaded into the car, kids up and the like.
Event warmup:

No real warm up
Swim
  • 08m 25s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

Just no preparing for the first swim. I was very physically prepared but the mental got to me and I never got into a breathing routine. Kept my head up and wasted a lot of energy. A few moments in which I reminded myself I would not sink with the suit on. :) Drafted really good until the got flipped like a turtle and I nearly swam over top of him. Rest of the time I was pretty much on my own.
What would you do differently?:

Just need more experience. Going to need to figure out how to practice in my race like conditions.
Transition 1
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

Got a bit stuck with the heels, good run out and shoes on while travelling down the road.
What would you do differently?:

practice, felt good about the T1
Bike
  • 45m 24s
  • 14 miles
  • 18.50 mile/hr
Comments:

Not bad for first time, had many chances to ride course prior due to distance from home. Have a Trek Hybrid so new that I would be limited a bit by equipment but still hit a max speed of 39.7 MPH. Wonder how faster I would be with better equipment. :)
What would you do differently?:

Get a tri specific bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 42s
Comments:

Thought this was fast but lots of people under my time. hmmm almost bit it on a corner in the wet grass. age rank 11th
What would you do differently?:

Go faster!
Run
  • 25m 23s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Surprised how easier the runs are getting, need to push a bit more
What would you do differently?:

need to push a bit more, past leg issues hold me back, biggest area for improvement
Post race
Warm down:

walking and cooling down

What limited your ability to perform faster:

mental

Event comments:

Good first time event, will do this again next year especially because of the distance from home.
