Hey Tracey, good luck with the CGM.  I've been thinking of firing mine back up.  Got burned out on the cal errors, bad sensors, keeping it taped down, alarms, etc.  But when it works it is very useful.

^ Have you tried Mastisol adhesive (I buy it on Amazon because it is cheaper, but you can get it through Minimed et. al. and perhaps insurance would chip in)? I have serious issues getting my pump sites to stay in when I sweat, but with the Mastisol you can basically adhere a Buick to your side. I also will put a bit of unscented deodorant around the site to keep the sweat down around the site. It works a lot better for me than the IV preps.

Thanks Tracey!  No, I haven't tried the mastisol....yet.  The CGM transmitter doesn't have any adhesive, so I have used IV3000 dressing to cover it.  It's the IV3000 that comes unglued...from sweat, pool, shower, etc.  I assume I could put the mastisol on my skin before I put the IV3000 on and make that stick better??

First tri of the season for me on Sunday....and second tri ever.  My goal this spring/summer is to do one sprint a month, and hopefully end with an olympic distance in the fall.  What's everyone else up to?

^ Yeah, I'd put the Mastisol on and then the dressing. You have to let the mastisol dry for a tiny bit before you put anything on it. I got the pump bottle spray for that exact reason.

Just be careful with the stuff...the first few times you do it, you'll get it everywhere and it is REALLY. REALLY. sticky.

Thanks for the tips re: the mastisol.  I'll have to make sure none of my dogs are around when I use the stuff.  Could get ugly .

OK, so my first tri of the season (and second ever) came with BG's in the mid/upper 300's.  I tried bolusing very conservatively to bring it down before we started, and also in T1, but it kept going up and peaked out at 399 (as far as I know).  This does not tend to happen in training, and breakfast food and insulin were my norm.  I bolused in T1 to make up for the lost basal during the swim (and wait), so I think it was mainly nerves + my body's shock at arising at 4 am.   I know the theories in my head (adrenaline >> higher BG), but I am such a wuss about an aggressive bolus during a race....just don't want to ruin the day with a low, ya know?   Next race will be my first OWS, so I would anticipate more nerves, and even more fear of bolusing too much pre-race.  Anyone have experiences or tips to share?
