Comments: With the warm water and the cold air there was a lot of fog, spotting was very difficult. I had clear goggles that were not fogged up and had a hard time spotting the next bouy. Little over half way I pulled my goggles off and was able to see the Pranahi sports light house better and swam for that. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: I was slow in T1 had a hard time with the freshly cut grass and getting my bike shoes on. Hands and feet still cold. What would you do differently?: Need to invest in tri shoes. Bike
Comments: I was able pass a lot of people from the first heat on the bike, most are not used to the large hills on this coarse. The coarse descripsion says Mildly hilly, which I thought was funny being from the area. The coarse has some steep long climbs on it. I train on larger climbs around here so they are not to bad for me, but for someone used to riding on flats they are a killer. What would you do differently?: Need to invest in a tri bike, my bike is a low end road bike(heavy too) Transition 2
Comments: fingers and toes very cold coming off the bike, hard time getting shoes changed. What would you do differently?: Not sure, not used to doing events in that cold of weather. Run
Comments: The run is my weakness, I would not have changed anything it was pretty good for me. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Just did a 1/2 iron one week before this, probably was not fully recovered. Just wanted to do this anyway because it was local and I knew a bunch of people. With proper recovery from the half I should have been a little faster Last updated: 2009-09-17 12:00 AM

Since it was local I rode my bike to the event with a couple other locals. We arrived about 6:10am and it was still very dark, and cold. When we left air temp was about 45 F.
Just trying to stay warm before activities started. The walk from transition to the boat ramp made my feet go numb from the cold. I don't think it was much above 50 F when it started.
