Event warmup:

Swam a couple hundred, water felt good, warm
Swim
  • 31m 2s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 04s / 100 meters
Comments:

Little nervous as soon as i took off my swim cap popped off like a rubber band stopped and found it trying to get it on while 70 people swam over top of me. got cap on and off i went pretty good until I rounded the last bouy and the course sort of went to the right at an angle back to shore and really got disoriented when I spotted right after turn I would see people swimming to shore and those coming toward the 2nd turn and at one point actually swam towards those coming at me??? finally got going the right direction but did not spot well at all last straight away to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Work on spotting, swim faster.
Transition 1
  • 02m 27s
Comments:

went well
What would you do differently?:

maybe practice putting shoes on bike or at least a running bike mount.
Bike
  • 1h 20m 48s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.45 mile/hr
Comments:

felt good on bike rain slowed me on corners and like always weight hurt on hills.
What would you do differently?:

As always not be fat
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Little slow
What would you do differently?:

just be a little faster
Run
  • 58m 6s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt good on run but with about 2 miles left they sent us on a little 2 tenths stretch that was a very steep hill after running up and down hills the first 4 miles and it just blew me up. I had planned on going out slow and finishing the last 2 miles at a 5k pace but no chance. I have got to improve my run over the winter I get really discouraged as everyone on the course passes me.
What would you do differently?:

not be fat
Post race
Warm down:

drank water hung out with wife and buddy who did race

What limited your ability to perform faster:

fat

Event comments:

Good race /bad weather might do this one again fairly pleased for first Olympic race.

Way to go!  Your bike speed was so much faster than your race in May, which was a shorter distance!  Almost 2 mph!
