Comments: Felt very relaxed and had time to think about the race ahead. Wasn't too nervous. Only had a few climb up on my feet and did the same to a few others, so I think I had good positioning. What would you do differently?: Probably nothing. I didn't wear my wetsuit because I thought the water would be warm enough. I wasn't wrong. Transition 1
Comments: Easy to find my spot because I walked back and forth to it a few times. Had a little more trouble figuring out what side of the area to run out of. Trouble getting my socks on because both my feet and them were soaked, but glad I wore them. What would you do differently?: Not forget which end of transition to start the run. Bike
Comments: Rained the whole time, toes went numb right away and stayed numb until 10min into the run. Ate a few Clif ShotBloks. What would you do differently?: Maybe some toe covers. Transition 2
Comments: Felt like it was too easy, felt like I was forgetting something. Guess I set up well. What would you do differently?: Brought plastic to cover my transition gear. Run
Comments: Still raining, toes numb. Took the first mile to thaw out. Post race
Warm down: Walked a little then ate some snacks. Went to the car to change into dry clothes. Would have brought another towel and maybe a better jacket. Glad I had my GoreTex jacket in the back. What limited your ability to perform faster: Rain and numb feet. Last updated: 2009-08-30 12:00 AM

Woke up at 0420, out the door by 0430 for the hour and a half drive up to Heber Springs. Had the car packed before I went to bed except for my transition bag. When I got there, I changed into my race clothes and put my sweats back on over since it was pretty cold and rainy. Got marked and then took the bike to transition to set up. Was early enough to have pretty much my pick of placement. Probably was the 10th person to set up. Then spent some time people watching for ideas and curiosity.
Just a little joint mobility to loosen up and stay warm.
