Sunny
Total Time = 2h 44m 46s
Overall Rank = 148/295
Age Group = M25-29
Age Group Rank = 20/41
Pre-race routine:

wake up at 530, cereal for breakfast, drive to event site. Tried to get rid of the pre-race hydration, but the line was too long.
Event warmup:

A little half mile run with some stretching
Swim
  • 37m 16s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 29s / 100 meters
Comments:

Sun in the eyes on the middle leg. Overall swim was a vest improvement over previous races, was able to maintain proper freestyle form the whole race, slow though it may have been.
What would you do differently?:

Get to the bathroom before
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

A little struggle getting wetsuit off, top was off before I got to the rack, but bottom took a bit to get off. Paced a few people on the way to the mount line though.
Bike
  • 1h 09m 12s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 21.55 mile/hr
Comments:

Dropped bottle at the start of the second lap, oops, no water after that. Was mixing it up with a bunch of Cervelos and an X-lab. Thought I was going to get busted for Drafting, but apparently the USAT official was a bit more forgiving than I though. They just closed on me as I was going up hill, and everybody was bunching up. Good ride over all... abominable cramp at the end of the 1st lap, but it worked out and I made up the time. Passed a P4.
What would you do differently?:

Better equipment, so those Cervelos wouldn't keep passing me on the downhills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

Running shoes were a bit tight, so it took a bit to get them on. Socks were slow too.
What would you do differently?:

Break in the new shoes a little bit more.
Run
  • 55m 9s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

A lot of cramping on this, it sucked. Exposed run, rolling hills. Nothing ultimately very bad, but it all added up to suffer. Shoes weren't broken in, so I ended up with a couple blisters. Cramped for a while too.
What would you do differently?:

Break Shoes In.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around, pick up transition, drink some water. Pick up sun glasses.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Honestly, not being able to go to the bathroom, but thats a long story

Event comments:

The international course was a bit contrived, Especially on the run course. Doing 2 loops on the bike was okay, but not okay on the run, especially without a timing mat on the turn around, and in your face signage noting that it's a two lap course. Just kind of had to guess at some points.

Course: Water stations were good, volunteer support was good. But course marking was confusing. If you were zoned out, it'd be very easy to not keep track of what lap you were on. No portalets on course either
