OK - I went ahead and spent my kids inheritance. I'm the proud new owner of a 2009 P2C.
THANK YOU to all of you who helped me in my difficult decision! I spent more time agonizing over this decision than I did on naming my kids and picking which University to attend.

My decisioin came down to this. I tried out both bikes at the store (again) - both felt great. I was 90% decided to go with the Argon 18 E-112.  But then I noticed that the Argon 18 frame size was small (I though it was a medium) - this was a bit of a shock since I'm 5'11' and my last bike was a 56cm Fuji. Argon 18 says that the small E-112 frame is equiv. to 53cm. The shop owner said I fit the bike great, as did a few other customers. I have to admit I looked good on it in the mirror BUT psychologically I started feeling cramped...  oh-oh, were my knees brushing up against my elbows all of a sudden...

Before you call me an idiot,  I figured that the next time I have a bad race (and it will happen) - that seed of doubt about the frame size will grow and I'll start blaming the bike.
With the 54cm P2C, when I have a bad race, I'll only have my self to blame.

If the Argon-18 was available in medium I would have taken it. Better wheels, great cockpit with adjustable aerobars, incredibly sexy and stable frame, and the Ultegra/105 components were good enough.

Thanks for your help again.
Mark

Congrats on the purchase, I am not sure what your previous bike was but I finally got to take my P2 out on Friday and it seemed significantly faster, and climbed like nothing else. Enjoy the long hours together!

Congrats. Little strange that the shop owner would put you on the small E112 frame. I am 5'9" and I ride small. I am at the upper limit of acceptable stack coordinates. Yes, small size effective top tube length is 51-53cm, depending on the seat post position and yes you want to ride that bike steep, seat post at 78 degrees, which may become cramped in size small depending on your torso length.
Anyway, good choice. Now tear it up. We want to hear about some solid bike training and blazing fast bike splits. No more excuses. Just joking.
Good luck.

Have one myself. It's not without reason that they're so popular, well-designed, -built, and -specced bike at a good price point.

Agree!  Get the Argon, so I can beat you on my new (new to me at least) P2C!

Sounds like they didn't have a medium? Stack/Reach of Med E-112 almost identical to 54 p2c, so should they have had a medium, would have been virtually apples-to-apples.

P2 is a great ride. I have one, so it has to be the better choice
