Total Time = 1h 31m 10s
Overall Rank = 83/229
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 10/24
Pre-race routine:

Not so much, got up, packed up the car, had a banana and half a bagel with PB. Woke up way too early.
Event warmup:

No real warmup other than the swim out to the wading start.
Swim
  • 24m 24s
  • 1200 meters
  • 02m 02s / 100 meters
Comments:

I felt like my breathing was better than previous races, I tried to avoid lifting my head as much. I was disappointed how quickly the pack pulled away however. My pace per 100m improved but I still came out of the water towards the very bottom of the pack.
What would you do differently?:

Keep getting swim lessons, slower/longer strokes.
Transition 1
  • 03m 44s
Comments:

My sense of urgency in T1 still isn't what it should be. Wetsuit did come off quicker this time.
What would you do differently?:

Continue to practice T1. I didn't set up my bike computer properly until I was leaving the transition area, this should have been done when I initially set up my transition, that is what I get for rushing!
Bike
  • 43m 37s
  • 13.9 miles
  • 19.12 mile/hr
Comments:

The most technical course I've raced thus far. Started to feel slight more comfortable with aero position on downhills.
What would you do differently?:

Practice my turning and cornering more, I often have to swing really wide.
Transition 2
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

T2 felt fast, but only in comparison to T1. I took too much time to down a quick gel and suck down some water, should have just done it on the course. Not biggie though.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster!
Run
  • 17m 30s
  • 2.71 miles
  • 06m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

This was my fastest run leg to date. My first time running in my new K-Swiss, they felt so light which was very motivating.
What would you do differently?:

Keep running faster!
Post race
Warm down:

Walk to get goodies is about it, some minor stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The swim as usual.

Course: The swim course was a lot longer than advertised, all the official paces reflect the paper distance of 750m, but looking at the top swimmer's times and space between the sprint and olympic swim winner the sprint distance was anywhere from 1200-1300 meters.

Garmin measure this course as short and it definitely felt like it, no way I ran 5:38/miles! Discrepancy between my garmin time and the race time as well, going with race time.
Course: Fairly flat course save for a small but steep hill, some trail running as well.
