Bike
Comments: there were over 2100 competitors. my seat broke 1:20:00 minutes into the race. I taped it but the iron frame was sticking out. I sat on those things for the remianing of the race and got raw! I ended up with two bleeding blisters under my cheek bones. not good. i wasn't able to pedal efficiently anymore. i was hurting too much to even sit down part of the race. but i still didn't quit. What would you do differently?: train harder and longer. i was not ready for this race. i cramped at the 13th mile. Post race
Warm down: ate lunch and drank a coke. rode back to chamizal park in el paso across the border. What limited your ability to perform faster: broken seat. i was hurting too much to even sit down. i was in about 70th place when my seat broke. i ended up with 233. Event comments: this is the best mtn bike race i have ever raced. there were over 500 volunteers providing water and electrolytes, gels, orange slices, bananas, etc. they had paramedics all along providing massages and first aid. almost 2200 racers. it was a great race. will avenge for my broken seat next year.
