Run
Comments: Haven't ever really run an open 5k before, only in sprint tri's. Plan was to go out fast and see how long I could hold on. Funny, almost 1 mile in I was running sub 7:00 pace and came up on a 10ish year old and couldn't catch him, he then proceeded to run away from me. Spent the first 1/4 mile weaving in and out of people, not sure why even when the announcer tells slower people to move to the back that they don't. I was about 10 people deep from the start, and this race has 2000 people in it. Felt good the whole time, pretty flat course. Looking at my watch I ran 3.17 miles and ended up with a 7:05/mile pace. What would you do differently?: Other than learning how to cut the corners to actually finish the correct distance not much I could do better at this point. Next time would like to maintain the sub 7:00/mile pace the whole race. Post race
Warm down: Ate a bananna, walked to the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Getting faster but not quite there yet. Event comments: Fun race, my neighbors talked to the pastor of the church and they are trying to figure out how to make the race bigger next year, they sold out completely at 2000, Last updated: 2009-11-19 12:00 AM
