Subject: Can you restore goggles??
My Aquashpere Kaimen (sp?) goggles are leaking after a year of use. The same thing happened with my previous pair. Now granted I had not been rinsing them out in fresh water......but is this to be expected? The plastic is no longer soft.......it is more like a dried out ju jube than a nice fresh one!!! Yeah......a candy reference!

Anyway to "restore " them? Or is this just how long you can expect a pair to last? Would rinsing after use extend the lifespan of my goggles?

Thanks.

x2.

Sorry, but the patient can't be revived.

I've never used the goggles you're talking about, but I do know that I rinse my Vanquishers really well after every use, and they last me a couple years before they need to be replaced.  I usually manage to leave them in the locker room before they wear out.

I usually go through a pair per year..  This year was 30K yards...  for me usually the fogging gets me.. Even though I use anti-fog, after about 600 yrds, it still happens..  That's when I head to the Tri Store.

Aaaargh....thougt I would just pop by my tri store and pick up a new pair. Nope. They do not carry them anymore. Nor does anyone else here.
Can anyone recommend a good place online to buy new Aquaspheres?? In the meantime I shall use the leaky goggles as my excuse for my crappy swimming!!

1yr without any care sounds like a good investment to me.

Icome get a good 1.5yr for most of my pairs (depending on brand). But I do rinse them everytime I shower after a swim, & try to never touch the lense. They discolor long before I need to toss them. When the outer edges begin to bend & start giving issues with sealing is when I toss them.

When you buy new ones, buy 2 pairs.  Keep both in your bag in case you loose one, or one breaks.  When you are down to 1 pair, replace the extra one.  In addition to always keeping 2 pairs for this reason, I also have them for different light conditions during OWS. (One clear, and one with dark tint).

I go through 2-3 pairs a year as they either don't seal well or fog up badly and I use same type as you Helen.

I keep a collection in my mesh into the pool bag so my kids can use them if they come along. I probably have 10 pairs of them some at home but normally 2-4 pairs in my swim bag, I guess maybe I should start throwing the bad ones out.

You get a year out of yours which is lot more than I do and we swim about the same frequency.
