Well, my xmas present showed up early.  So now I'm the proud owner of the 310XT.  Just wanted to ask those that have had one for a while:  What do you really like using it for?  What did you find doesn't work so well?  Any other tips about making it mo' better?

Don't forget to hold down the lap button for 3 sec after a workout.  This stores the workout in memory, and is much less likely to be erased.

This got me again tonight. Last time I used my 310 was one week ago. I forgot to hold down the reset button before tonight's run and it got recorded as having happened on 11/25.  Drives me absolutely insane.

It's a great training tool and it's reasonable that there will be some bugs as it's fairly new (and there were plenty when it first can out) but I'm floored that you need to implement a manual workaround to get it to record the date of a workout correctly.

I really appreciate this tip! Had no idea and it has annoyed the cr*p out of me... this solves really the only issue I've had with the 310XT so far.

Not everyone can set up perfect software like the BT guys.  That kind of intellect is rare.

So how does the date get updated?  I had the thing with me for my (short) ride into work, so it could get a chance to see satellites.  The time is correct but it still thinks its April 2007.  Does it just need more time under the satellites??

This is automagically picked up by satellites - both time zone and time.  Did it ever pickup the satellites?

While normally this happens in the first 60 seconds (at most), I have seen cases where if you never quite aquire and start going, it may not actually aquire at all.  eventually it does prompt you and say "Are you indors?  Is today Dec 8th?  Have you moved more than X miles since last use?".

You can trigger this by simply going indoors and then answering no to that question, and then No to the Dec 8th question.  From there it will do a full satellite sweep again.  Obviously, depart the indoor location and head outside.  This should trick it and get it cooking again.
