I added myself and my friend Anne that will be with me. Won't speak for Erin and Chad, but I bet they are in as well. I will have to look up the name of the place we went to last year (marios or something like that) and this NOT where we want to go this year. Service was HORRIBLE!

This place looks pretty good.  Reasonable prices.  Not sure where it is in relation to Moody gardens, but the Island is not all that big.

I don't see a time listed.  I'll be racing in the Olympic that morning.  But if this is late enough, I will be attending.

Agreed. Also, Mario's on 61st built a new building that is much nicer and larger than the old one.

Looks like a possibility..I don't eat pasta or grains so tough for me to eat at Italian place but I will go if that works best for everyone.

I wonder if we could make reservations there?

This place is in what used to be a Taco Bell. Draw your own conclusion about that. To be fair, I haven't eaten there.

Hmmm...did not know that.  Rik, you seem to have the low-down on the places to go.  Would you mind posting a few links to options so we can check out the menu?

I can't attest to this place for service or quality of food, but it looks decent from the menu and variety....

http://www.mosquitocafe.com/

I might try and hit the place with the wife and kids sometime during the weekend.

Menu looks good with lots of variety.

If you go ask if they'd take reservations for Saturday maybe 1:30 for maybe 15 or so but we'd confirm later.

I called but they aren't open Monday. I'll try again tomorrow to see if we can work something out. Since we'll be after lunch rush hopefully they can accommodate us.

The Mosquito Cafe sounds good, but I haven't been there. Unfortunately many of the places I could personally recommend don't have websites or if they do they aren't very informative. Here are a few, in alphabetical order (yes, I am that guy):

Cafe Michael Burger (the bike route goes past this one)
Gaido's (where I worked in college and I still love it)
Landry's line of restaurants
Mario's Ristorante
Sonny's Place (Great gumbo!)
The Spot
Yaga's Cafe
Yamato

Today I ordered an aero disc cover to put on my Zipp 404s for the race. Hope to try them out as I plan to use that combination at IMFL and Lonestar is sort of a test. Wind tunnel testing show it works just as good as a Zipp sub 9 disc and for $100 much cheaper.

What is everyone riding for the race?

I'll be on my Red Orbea Ora with Bontrager Race X Lites (not an aero wheel but it's what I have), and a Giro Advantage II.

I'll be on a Quintana Roo Tequilo with Mavic Cosmic Carbone wheels, back with yellow decals and the front in silver decals (that's what I get for not having enough money to buy both wheels at the same time!)
