Pre-race routine:

Ate a banana and power bar. Gatorade and 1/2 bottle or Cytomax.
Event warmup:

10 minutes of running. Biked the run course. Just a dip in the water.
Swim
  • 09m 33s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 45s / 100 yards
Comments:

Decent swim. A little hectic, and I abandoned my form a bit. My arms were tired and I was pretty gased at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Concentrate on relaxing and sticking with my form.
Transition 1

Bike
  • 44m 30s
  • 15.5 miles
  • 20.90 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride. Improved on my last years split by 6 minutes... very happy with that.
What would you do differently?:

Work on the hills a bit, but overall not much. Would still like to get better.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 26m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Not a great run. Went hard on the bike and was cramping a bit on the beginning of the run. Felt awful in the beginning, but much better at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, just keep working on the speed training and getting the legs in shape to get of the bike and go. Seemed to have some left in the tank at the end, so I should have gone harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching, massage, and walking.

Event comments:

Good race.

Advice for anyone wearing a wetsuit...

I have to take my timing chip off after the swim to get the wetsuit over my ankles. Remember to put it back on!!! I forgot and had the best race I've ever had, yet my splits won't show up in the overall results and my overall time may not as well. According to the race director they should have written my time down, but we have to wait and see. Luckily for me I at least kept my splits, though I don't know what my transition times were exactly, just had to estimate based on the swim, bike, run splits.
